      The Objective

      The Course of Automation is designed to cultivate students with theories, knowledge and skills in the area of  automation.

      Knowledge, Skills and  Capabilities

      Students who complete the Course is able to understand and appreciate the theories and principles of industrial process control and to analyze the working principles of control systems, build control mathematical models, apply methods and measures to improve control performance, overhaul and maintain commonly used industrial control equipments, and use modern automation components and equipments to design or upgrade motion control and process control systems in modern industrial fields.

      Content

      The Course contains inspection and automation instrumentation, power electronics, and factories power supply technology, information processing and other technologies, relay control technology, programmable control technology, frequency conversion technology, electronic technology, computer information technology, sensors and detection technology as well as the technologies in the integration of computer hardware with software, machinery with electronics, components with systems, operation with manufacturing.

      Students will possess skills in electrical engineering, metalworking practices, programming, electronic circuits, Cartographer (Electronic) Level 3 Professional Qualification, Maintenance Electrician (Level 3) Professional Qualification, microprocessor theories and application, editable program control system, switching power supply, artificial intelligence systems for buildings

      Core Units

      First Year: Fundamentals of Circuit, Analog Electronics, C Language Programming, Computer Application 

      Second Year: Electronic Circuit Analysis, Electrical Circuit Design, Computer Control, Detection Components and Measurement. Digital Dlectronics, Power Drag and Clectrical control, Microprocessor Pprinciples and Application, Automatic Control Principles, Sensor Principles and Application, Circuit CAD

      Third Year: Integrated Automation Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, Power Electronic Technology, Frequency Conversion and Speed Control, Factory Power Supplies, Field Bus Technology, Process Control Instrumentation and Systems, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Technology, Configuration Control Technology, and Electrical Engineering CAD

      Fourth Year: Corporate Research, Production Practice, Graduation Practice, and Graduation Thesis

      Delivery

      The Course is delivered in lectures, tutorials, workshops, and practicum laboratories in the first 3 years on-campus and internship in the fourth year in companies off-campus or abroad.   

      Assessments

      The Course will be assessed by progressive learning tasks, final examination and graduation thesis/dissertation.

      Award

      Bachelor of Engineering will be awarded to those who meet the requirements of graduation.

      Graduates could seek a career in three broad areas such as the research and development of electronics, electrical control and industrial control equipment products,  the production process management, quality inspection, after-sales service and on-site construction installation and commissioning of industrial control engineering, automated production system operation and maintenance, and the artificial intelligence control technology, the design and formation of industrial control networks, professional related industry procurement of raw materials, product marketing, production management.
