      The Objective

      The Course of Communication Engineering is designed to cultivate students with theories,  knowledge, and skills in the area of communication engineering.

      Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities

      Students who complete the Course is able to understand and appreciate the theories and methods as well as the industry standards and specifications in communication engineering, to apply computer graphics technology, AutoCAD, Visio and other softwares to design the pipeline layout, room engineering, fiber optic cables, transmission design and construction drawings, mastering the skills in project budgeting, equipment installation, testing and maintenance.

      Content

      The Course contains theories and practices, regulations and standards, knowledge and skills in the area of communication engineering, such as engineering drawings, the principles and application of information transmission and signal processing, communication technology, communication system and communication network, mobile communications, modern switching technologies, optical fiber communications, wireless network optimization as well as communication project budgeting in the industries of communication, equipment manufacturing, network operations, technical services and production management. The Course is of 4-year duration. 

      Core Units

      First Year: Circuit Theories, Analog Electronics, C Language Programming, Computer Application Technology

      Second Year: Digital Electronics, High Frequency Electronics, Microprocessor Technology, Signals and Systems, Communication Engineering Drawing, CAD Technology

      Third Year: Communication Theories, Communication Engineering Budgeting, Database Theory and Application, Linux Operating System, Modern Switching Technology, Mobile Communication, Optical Communication, Wireless Network Optimization

      Fourth Year: Corporate Research, Production Practice, Graduation Practice, and Graduation Thesis

      Delivery

      The Course is delivered in lectures, tutorials, workshops, and practicum laboratories in the first 3 years on-campus and internship in the fourth year in companies off-campus or abroad.   

      Assessments

      The Course will be assessed by progressive learning tasks, final examination and graduation thesis/dissertation.

      Award

      Bachelor of Engineering will be awarded to those who meet the requirements of graduation.

      Career Prospects

      Graduates could seek a career in the communication industry for communication equipment manufacturers, operators (China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom), service providers, and outsourcers and undertake jobs in the engineering and construction of communication networks, network optimization, equipment installation and commissioning, network maintenance as well as jobs in communication production management, marketing and after-sales service.
